Common questions
How much does a landscape boulder weigh?
Natural stone weighs about 165 lb per cubic foot. Because boulders are irregular, a boulder fills roughly half of its length x width x height box. A 3 x 2 x 2 ft boulder is about 12 cubic feet x 0.5 x 165 lb = about 990 lb, or half a ton.
How many boulders are in a ton?
About two 3 x 2 x 2 ft boulders, or six to eight 2 x 1.5 x 1.5 ft boulders. Bigger boulders mean fewer per ton.
How many boulders fit on a pallet?
Most pallets carry about 2 tons, but boulder pallets vary more than other stone because of their shapes. Large boulders over 500 lb are priced by the piece. Call us.
How are boulders priced?
Per ton, except flat-edged limestone (per truckload) and large moss boulders (per piece).
